Great diorama to go along with a great tribute. :salute::

In the movie series, Band of Brothers, one of the guys comments that his wife mentions how cold a particular day might be. But he always says ... "Ya' but not as cold a Bastone." Your dio reminds me of the scene.

Well done.

Merry Christmas, Wayne.

Looking forward to more of you work in the coming year.

Nice one Wayne. I succumbed to this series earlier this year, in fact only yesterday I purchased the G I Bazooka team. Thanks to Jacob I have the great Winter town of Bastone, which next week I will take some artistic license and have some Germans entering into. Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year Wayne. Robin.

Fitting tribute. Lest we forget their sacrifices and bravery.

Hi Guys,

Merry Christmas to you all as well. Imagine in 1944 right now what these G.I.' were going through 5 days after the initial
German attack launched.

The first weekend in January I'm going up to Rochelinval in Belgium to do a memorial walk. I did it last January with one of the few survivors of the US 551st Parachute Infantry Battalion. The 551st was a little known unit that had jumped into Southern France during Operation Dragoon. In the need for reinforcements and the efforts to close the Bulge, the 551st was committed to a Bayonet Charge to seize and clear Rochelinval. Estimates put the casualties for the 551st near 80%. The survivors were rolled into other units and the Battalion unceremoniously disbanded. Our patron from last year, Col Doug Dillard passed a few months ago, so this year's march will be done in his honor.

Thanks for that piece of little known history. I don't think I've ever seen anything relating to that regiment regarding the Buldge. Always nice to hear about the unknown heroes from conflicts.
