Hello,

I have just purchase my first First Legion figure. I am very impressed with the quality and hope to get some more. They will go well with my other figures.

The only problem I have is that I don’t like the base. IMO it’s too thick, made worse by the black edging, so I’m thinking of removing it.

I was wondering if anybody has removed a FL base before.

I remember reading somewhere that it might help to heat up the base from underneath to loosen the glue or the pin.

Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated thanks.

I never saw the need for a base on a figure that doesn't need one.

I have removed bases before, and it all depends on whether the base is moulded onto the body or added separately when it come to the removal.

It it is moulded, it needs to cut off then cleaned up around the body and even filed away underneath, a most laborious job.

If it is separate, it may be able to be worked off with 'gentle pressure' to break the glue seal.

It's much easier for standing figures.

Maybe someone who has a FL laying figure can advise, but my K&C figures and a one piece mould so very hard to remove the base.

Thank you for the advise John. With gentle pressure, a broken blade and a cut thumb, I got the base off.
I think it looks better now.

Well done. I did not think it would be possible without damaging the figure. Sorry about your thumb.

Sometimes, if you can see the lugs that hold the figures onto the base, I drill them out, and the figure just falls off and saves damage to the figure, and your own fingers :)

Glad that my suggestions work, now all you need is to touch up the paint chips, and no one will ever know it didn't come like that :)

I really wish the TS companies would eliminate bases where it's practical-like this figure....nicely done !
