Gentlemen,

I just bought "Everything Stops for Tea" set, and I certainly don't blame the seller for this, because I think he'd had them in storage for awhile, but there are tiny bits of the foam packing stuck to all the figures. I didn't know if there was a simple way to remove it, or if I'm just up a creek with a load of rare, flocked Tommies.

Yours,
Dave

How about a can of air that you use to clean computers.I use it to blow off any dust that might get on my figures.

i just got a 3 piece set of italian garde with color with same problem. Only other time i had this trouble was on the same set with swiss garde. Its like the paint was neverdry as the arms feel alittle stick. I used palm dish soap and gently and slowly removed mine

Thanks, guys. I'll try the air spray, but I'm pretty sure it'll need the dish soap.

Dave

Yeah, dish detergent contains mild de-greasers, which should remove the residue left by the packing foam.

Many scale modelers use dish detergent to wash a kit's sprues as a first step, to remove mold release compounds, other types of grease or oils, and dirt.

Prost!

actually it was dawn detergenrt not palm

I would use a soft/firm 2" paint brush to massage the detergent in all the crevices...
rinse with cold water and repeat if necessary...

Or an old toothbrush, too, with a very gentle scrubbing action. I save old toothbrushes for my work bench, for uses like this.

Prost!

Had this exact set with the exact same problem 20 or so years ago, when the set was much newer. Couldn't understand how the foam would break down and leave the figures with that sticky residue on a set that was so recent, but it did. I just used water to try and remove the residue but was never completely successful. Never tried the soap. Good luck cleaning them off. -- Al

Thank y'all for the help. I've had to travel a lot recently, so I haven't had the chance to work on them yet, but the dish detergent and a soft brush sounds like the way to go.

Yours,
Dave
