For those who missed the boat with the early Monongahela figures like me. Does anyone know of any major uniform differances to the Quebec British infantry that would make conversion of these figures impracticle?

The only difference that I have noticed between the British Grendandiers has been the color of the front plate on the hats. In the BM series the front plates are Yellow and in the Q series they are White. The officer in the death of Wolfe set is Green.

I say you can buy them and mix them without too much notice.

Also there are still dealers like Tim Tyler (Troops of Time), George "Our Warrior" (Minuteman) and Mike (Sierra) who have lots of the TWO MAN SETS for the Braddock Series - so you can still build a nice firing line with them. And there are more to come - I believe ?? :D

:D

I believe the reason these are different is that they are supposed to match the Regimental colours - to the extent anyone cares.

Yes - Combat is right !

My point was that you could easly convert them with little problem - since the Reg. Coloring is on the Facemat of the Grend. Soldier Helmut and on the cuff of his coat.

RAMC,
I've been thinking about doing the same thing but have yet to buy any of the 47th QB sets. This is what I've observed by comparing figures of the 44th MB which I do have with photos of the 47th.

The 47th Rgmt. in the QB sets have red breeches and waistcoats, while the 44th in the MB sets have buff color breeches and waist coats. Besides the difference of paint color the 47th red waistcoats have white "tape" trim around the pockets and near the collar - This trim might be part of the sculpting on these figures but could probably be painted over without much notice.

The 47th QB has white facings while the 44th MB is yellow. The would mean only repainting the center companies cuffs and coat turnbacks, but the grenadiers hat fronts would take some skillfull painting to change.

Finally, the 47th QB buttons are silver as well as officers' lace on hats and coats. The 44th lace and button color is gold.

Hope this helps, good luck.

:)Thanks everyone. Don't know if I will be able to buy multiples to repaint now that I've seen the snow shoes sets. So much to buy from so small a budget!

Try this link, photos of the 44th regiment reinactment group.

On one of the pages you can see grenadiers in a tan/white pants as well red pants. But most of the time the grenadiers are in red pants.

Go to gallery, view the various photos, some seem better then others, especially as it relates to the pants.

Also view the guidelines (equipment) for regimental lace!!!

Red britches and waistcoats was standard issue for British infantry at that time. Gen. Braddock at the start of his campaign which ended so badly at Monongahela had his British troops outfitted with linen britches and waistcoats.

So if you want your redcoats to look like they're at the Battle of Monongahela, give them linen pants. Anywhere else, red pants.
