K&C CF005 Jean-Baptiste Bessières, 1st Duke of Istria, the French military commander and Marshal of the Empire, who arrived on my doorstep last week from an Ebay seller has been provided the necessary 'surgery' so he is now be able to join his Emperor and fellow marshals who now resides in my collection.
I found him languishing on an Ebay site, but when no one bid for him I felt sorry for this old soldier and decided provide transport to accommodation in my home, and this week he has been brought back to ‘inspection order’
This now shows the opportunity that is available to restore figures which would otherwise be thrown out or maybe melted down for their metal content.
I’m always on the lookout for such figures, so please contact me if you know of any others from this time period, as I’d love to do more work like this.
