So it happened. Your kid got a hold of that Krups' truck and the unthinkable happened. After duly chastising said rugrat what to do? Hmmm?

Well we fix it! Can't be done? Au contraire!

On this break one of the figures' rifle became detached. Easy CA it! The rear..... Well it is puzzle time.

Best bet is to dry fit and pray all is still there. Having gotten all the pieces together, take it apart:mad: Reassemble one piece at a time. Slowly putting it back together with regular CA. Not all the pieces were found here. One piece below the gate to go.

We will get the last piece (dental pick is pointing at it) together then show you what to do about the touch ups and glossy glue residue.

You guys can send me your broken vehicles with the appropriate return shipping plus a little extra for the time and I will do my best for you. There are lots of ways to fix things. Not all perhaps but we shall see. Keep watching to see how this one comes out.

i don't know if you guys noticed but the back gate is a little off registration. So make sure your lighting is good. It is really noticeable on the screen because it is blown up. The other thing is breaks are smoetimes deformed. Notice the number board. It will never be perfect as parts of the raised numbers are missing. The ends of the cracks themselves can often be deformed, and sometimes bits will need to be reduced or scraped.

Anyway next step is to find the right colors and or mix them. Black grey works well for the base coat. Green ochre seems really close to the dirt color.

Hi, KV,

Could you try using a sculpting medium, like Miliput, or Green Stuff (I think that's the name), to build up any relief that was lost? I was thinking of the raised numbers on the license plate (Kennzeichen), for example. Maybe a little quantity of putty on a damaged area, let it harden, then shape it, and paint to match?

Prosit!

I could but the payoff is really too small. Not worth the effort. On other areas yes.

Oh, come on now, we're detail-oriented! What's the fun of being detail-oriented (or anal retentive), if you don't go nuts on small details that no one sees! :)

Prost!

So this is the result. it is not perfect but it will do. Next time it will be better.
After the paint dried I did an overall wash with a thined out ochre mixed with grey. Let it dry then went over the whole repaired area in a matte sealer

KV,
That's a fine repair job, you should be proud for the level of damage done.

KV:

You are very skilled! I hope that damage doesn't happen often! It's nice for Forum members to know someone is capable of repairing a real disaster!

Especially on a retired piece!

Nice job!

Thanks guys. I wish the ID plate came out better. But other than that I am pretty happy with it.

KV,

I thought you did a great job. Really can't see the damage in the photos.

Thanks Jazz, Other than the plate I am very happy with it. I am now getting request from around the world to fix their soldiers! Pretty good yeah? I may not make a living off it but the notoriety is cool!
