Replicant John Brown Raiders (1 Viewer)

Hi Scott, Nice job on these, I also like the buildings that you make as a backdrop. I bought this set last year but haven't yet painted, to be honest I'm sat on the fence with these Replicants. At the last big London Toy soldier show I met the sculptor who was selling his latest range of "Smugglers". I didn't think they were that good, his level of detail is variable, some OK, others not quite there, this set is OK, as is his Charles 1st, executioner, and Guy Fawkes set.

These are sketchy......
Actually, this set has been withdrawn as both Peter and I agreed that most of the detail that he put into the Master figure was lost in the mold-making process. Not to get too technical, but it's to do with the plating of the mold. Peter has had to recall the company that sells the plating material, twice, and there is a lot of head scratching going on.The mold has been re-made, but the results are still unsatisfactory.
No further new figures will be made until the problem has been resolved.
I get to see many of the Masters, believe me, they are truly superb. however, much of the exquisite detail gets lost in the process and even the very good figures are not a patch on the original.
That is the problem with the crude and basic method used (left over from the '50's) and probably the most significant point as to why Replicants are still the only Company in the World still hand making plastic figures from start to finish, one figure at a time.
Of course, there are those who produce in resin, but this is not plastic and is a completely different process.

Thank you Steve, I have a lot of Replicant figures and I'm slowly painting the ones I have had for years. It's just that the nature of how Replicant makes their figures makes them hard to get, expensive, and suffer from flash, indistinct details and short shots. I'll support Replicant with my $$$ and I hope Replicant will solve the current issues. I'm a Quality Manager at a small metal shop so I tend to look at the details.
