Hi Guys,

I’m off to Thailand on Monday on some family stuff so, before I go, here’s a few random thoughts and replies for you...

1) New Crusaders & Saracens...

We’ve already designed and master-carved a whole bunch of “newbies” for release later this year. Look out for among other things, the long-awaited “Richard The Lionheart” and some Saracen Cavalry plus the odd knight or two.

2) Pilots and Warbirds

The recent photos showing the newly arrived Typhoons and Focke Wulfs utilize existing K&C and Del Prado figures for “scale purpose” next to the aircraft. Alas, they’re not included.

3) “A Very Long Engagement”

On the movie thread someone was asking about this film...like my friend Ken Osen I consider this movie a superlative tale of World War One. I saw the movie in France and then bought the “special edition” dvd. As Ken writes the period detail...the attention to uniforms, equipment and a thousand other things is superb. I also recommend it whole-heartedly! Go for it...

4) Also on movies...a couple of days ago they were showing “Night of The Generals” on TV. I saw this old Omar Sharif, Peter O’ Tcole flic way back in the sixties. It really is good and was one of the very first movies to show decent “mocked-up” Tigers...I think they used T34/85’s with fibre glass “Tiger” bodies on top. It was filmed in Poland and France. The uniforms were also top-notch. Highly recommended.

Well, that’s all for now folks! Back to the salt mines...

Best wishes and speak to you all after I get back from Bangkok...happy collecting!

Not even for additional cost ;)

The Night of the Generals is an excellent movie; haven't seen it in years. It's based on a books by the same name by Hans Helmut Kirst, who wrote several excellent books (fiction) from the German side. I read many of them were a kid and really recommend them.

Other good ones are the Gunner Asch books, about a German non-com.

Night of the Generals ??

Sounds like Louis, Rob and I on any given night on the computer....:D ;)

Thank you sir! I shall inform the Queen - Maybe not.

What about that Lancaster bomber and full set of ground crew we were promised?

Damian,

I don't know if you meant that tongue in cheek but I believe you're referring to this statement, in his letter regarding Gestapo Arrest:

"Now, if King & Country decides to produce, let’s say, a World War II bomber…. A Heinkel… A B17 Flying Fortress… or perhaps an Avro Lancaster… complete with a ground crew loading that aircraft’s bombs… is that in ‘poor taste’?"

Please correct me if I'm incorrect but if that's the statement (putting on my lawyer's hat here), I didn't see King and Country committing themselves to produce one of those (which I would love to get). Hopefully, they'll do something like that in the future.

King and Country did produce an Avro but I have never seen one except in the Warbirds brochure from 1995, page 2.

In my expert opinion as an attorney, that quote clearly constitutes a binding contract mandating that K&C produce a Heinkel, a B17, a Lancaster and a full ground crew for each . . . I can dream, can't I?

By the way, I have one of the old Heinkel HE111 and B17 Forts that K&C did back in the 1990's and they are awesome. I never did get the Lanc, but not for want of trying.
