Anyone watching the final season of Rescue Me? It is now on Wednesday at 10 PM. Two episodes thus far with last episode to air Sept. 7th. This season's plot line leads up to the 10th Anniversary of 9/11.

Last night's episode where the guys have to have their annual physical was very funny. Sean was in top form and his segment is worth the price of admission. Mike was very Mike too. Tommy at the drug store was good as well.

Bleep! I thought last night was the 1st episode. I missed one already? Well, I'll catch it later. Agree about last night's show. Laughed almost the whole way through. The drug store scene was funny and accurate. The physical conspiracy was funny as well but I have my doubts that it would be possible to pull that off in real life. I suppose FDNY is such a huge operation (and somewhat impersonal) that something like that might happen, though. Still think the firehouse stuff is much more interesting then Tommy's mess of a home life. -- Al

I also missed the first show. To me Sean and Mike are the best and funniest charectors on the show. To be honest Tommy is getting very stale, and please no more story lines involving Tommy,s love interest.

Got no buzz on the show going. I've been watching and the impression I have is that it all seems much less dramatic than past seasons and feels like it is winding down, which it is. Must be about 2 shows left. I do not think that the story lines are going to be wrapped up. It will go out like the Sopranos, with nothing solved, just like life in general. -- Al

At one time it was one of my favorite shows, got to say this year it is flat out horrible. A couple of Wednesdays ago I switched over to the Food Channel and watched their show the episode was so bad.

Liked tonight's episode. Only two shows left, according to the ads. -- Al

I have to agree - this series is nowhere near as good as the previous ones.

Oddly enough I am enjoying this season better than the last couple of years. We are back to the dark humor, the firefighter pranks, and actually going to fires/rescues. Sorry, but Tommy's dark alcoholic rages and visions really wore thin after a while, so this year is more enjoyable. Biggest question for me is how they will end Tommy's story line. He is a firefighter - that's what he is at his core. He won't ever be good at much else. He either has to die on duty or make his family realize that he will only be satisfied with one job in life. Lou will probably have the big coronary, Franco needs to grow up more but he would make a good officer. Garrity and Mike are too retarded to be left alone for long. Black Shawn seems like he's pretty squared away, but Colleen is brining a lot of her father's and mother's inner devils to the marriage. There are a lot of ways this can go, or it can just peter end with the guys on the rig going to another fire.

Agree. This show was always strongest and entertaining when focusing on the firehouse operations and highjinks. Got real old, real fast, when focused on the circus act that is Tommy's "private" life. I tend to think that the show will end with a wimper, like The Sopranos did. I wouldn't enjoy some dramatic "going out in a blaze of glory" type ending, though I wouldn't put it past the writers. -- Al

I've been a fan of this show since day-1. However, I have to admit that this season lacks the punch of previous seasons and seems to be in a slow fade. The human drama is gone. Writers just showing up for work and collecting a check. Performances are call-ins also.

I'll stick out the last two shows, but I have a feeling that, based on the present pace, it will end with a whimper and with no closure. Tragically this will also end my affair of the heart with Andrea Roth! :-(

However, the next season fo Sons of Anarchy is upon us, so it will again be time for some good drama. Hand in there, all.

Last week ended in a cliff hanger. Who is going to live and who is going to die? I can't see them wiping out the whole company. Looks like the show is going out with a bang, but not so happy a bang. I liked the show, not the idiot wedding so much, but the action scenes. -- Al

Excellent finale to the series last night. Well written, well paced, tragic and funny. If you normally watch this show and missed it, make sure you catch it. Best episode in ages. Wraps everything up, more or less. There are a couple of sequences that are absolutely classic. One is typical Tommy, the other typical fire crew SNAFU. These are VERY funny. It was a fitting finale and a satisfying one, with no cheats. -- Al

Hate to break youe bubble, but I think the show lacks realism and focuses on unreal relationships. As the father of a firefighter who was at 9/11 and regularly fights difficult fires, I expected something more . . . perhaps being unrealistic myself.

But why are we discussing TV programs on a toy soldier site? Would not this site be betterif we stuck to subject that are more relevant and leave the social commentary to other, more appropriate, sites?

You are not breaking my bubble. I did this job for 21 years and I know the show is unrealistic in crucial points, but it is just a TV show. I simply found it entertaining. And, believe it or not, there are some true elements in the show, especially dealing with the down time at the firehouse and some of the fireground activities. The relationships that are depicted are just typical TV soap-opera BS. And the TV show is being dicussed because a few of us found it interesting and wanted to discuss it, in the proper section provided by this forum, no social commentary intended or tendered. -- Al

could not disagree more...not about the show but this site is a community. I get to talk to people all over the world on many different things...people I respect. If this was posted in the K&C forum I would get your point. It is a TV and Music thread after all.

Finally watched the final episode, when Garrety was caught squatting by the trooper I laughed out loud, the first time I did that in recent memory with this show. As much as the last few years have not been very good, I,m going to miss this show.
This was a real man show!

So true. Going to miss it, as well. I laughed MAO when the urn got opened in the truck. You could see it coming but it was just done so well and the results were hysterical. It was an episode worthy of the series. -- Al
