I'm quite satisfied with my painting, but this is simply because these figures are perfectly sculptured by Ron Barzso. Hope you like them too.

Excellent finish on your figures, Janusz! That's better than the finish produced by the commerical makers, well done!

Prost!

I really like this painting style Janusz. Washes perhaps?

Now I'd like to get the set to try painting them.

No I'm not using washes, only ocasionally for some small elements. For jackets etc. I'm painting in dark color first, than gradually applying brighter color layers using flat brush. The trick is that lighter color paint is semi-transparent (acrylic diluted with a bit of water) and must be very carefully applyied since it's not a wash... It is similar to dry brush technique.

I second that, Scott, these would fit very well with Frontline's Colonial Classics or their forerunners, Phoenix' Georgian series.

Prost!

Thank you. I'll give that a try. These figures have more elements of civilian clothing so I'll try them as militia as you did. The figure walking with his weapon on his arm would make good multiples with some head changes and various colors. The same pose is in Barzso's minutemen set so one could do a walking column with this one pose. I like that you painted the female as a motherly type.

That's very similar to the classic technique used by wargamers, Janusz. Do you happen to have come from a wargaming background?

It's very effective, your painting style.

Prost!

Thank you. No I never did war gaming :) I was experimenting with washes and dry brush, but not satisifed from results, worked out own way of painting. Anyway it is simple and I believe many people are doing the same way.
