Partial Retirement List

The official dispatches have not come out today. However with the help of our friends across the water the Neville’s, and the wonders of modern technology we do have a partial list of the retired items. I thought it would be a good idea to list them because several of these sets are already sold out on K&C’s web site.

BBG001 Grille SP Sold out at K&C
BBG005 Hetzer Sold out at K&C

DD49 Weapon Carrier Sold out at K&C

NA069 Officer In stock at K&C
NA070 Sergeant In stock at K&C
NA071 Standing Firing In stock at K&C
NA072 Kneeling Firing In stock at K&C
NA073 Kneeling Loading In stock at K&C
NA074 Moving Forward In stock at K&C
NA075 Skirmisher In stock at K&C
NA076 With Ramrod Sold out at K&C

WS40 Marching Infantry Sold out at K&C

SP017 French Farm House Sold out at K&C
SP018 Farm Courtyard In stock at K&C

Andy did mention there would be some other retirements that he would announce in the official dispatches.

Well I just thought it would be good for everyone who wanted any of these sets to know they are retired now and it looks like they are selling out quickly at K&C. So if you want them I would order now. I have just placed my order for the Grille and Hetzer today and some more King Legions to round out the soldiers I already have.

I do have a question on WS40. Are these soldiers’ uniforms more early war such as Fields of Battle or are they typical of regular German soldiers at any point of the war? I would appreciate any information supplied because I am not an expert on WWII.

Well good luck to all collectors out there and hopefully we all get the soldiers we want. Remember that draining your kids’ college fund to buy toy soldiers is not acceptable behavior. This is just a hobby.

Viva la Emperor,

I think I speak for all of us in saying these soldiers will be missed.:(

Och, I had the French Farmhouse on my October shopping list. Just have to spend the cash on an LRDG Chevy instead I guess.

Yes, the marching guys in WS40 are wearing early war uniforms - green tunics (rather than field gray), scalloped pocket flaps (rather than rectangular), jack boots (rather than short gaiter boots). However, even when later models of german uniform came out, a soldier would only be issued a replacement if his uniform had worn out. Therefore you see some early war uniform bits in photos right to the end of the war. If you plan to use WS40 to represent later war troops, ideally you would mix them in with some figures wearing later war uniforms - otherwise it might be a bit rare in 1944 to see four guys walking side by side only wearing pristine early war gear, unless they are second-line troops.

Hope this helps! :)

This is an excellent set if you want to depict Operation Barbarossa, or the Fall of France. They'll look great along with the short-barreled Stug - IMO.

Yes, but for Barbarossa see my post: "StuG: Another reason to ditch the dead French guy & sign".

Yes I did see that post. My memory might well be playing up, but wasn't that something to do with that particular formation not taking part in the Fall of France. Like I say, I could well be wrong (happens all the time), can't really remember, but I think that was the reason given for ditching the dead French guy and the sign. I still think the Stug (without the dead guy and sign) would be good for Barbarossa.

K & C HK HQ is still showing all of these items as available, not sure where the "sold out" idea is coming from to be honest.

And remember Ron, retired meansK & C HK HQ will not be producing anymore and once they sell out, there still are plenty in dealers hands, so it's not like you have to panic and your only avenue is now Ebay, I am sure plenty of dealers will have stock on these items at fair prices for some time to come..............

Spot on. Use WS40 + the Stug minus the sign and dead guy and you have a perfect Barbarossa scene.

While all of these soldiers still appear on K&C's web site if you try to order any of the ones I marked as sold out you get an out of stock message.
