Hello,

As those who receive my newsletter know, I had to retire some sets. I've been checking the molds and many of them are quite damaged and cannot be used to produce with a standard quality. Some of them can still be casted and repaired with some extra work, some others don't. I received quite a few orders for the retired sets, so some of them are getting to teh point of no return. If you are interested on any of them just let me know as soon as possible.

I need to explain something about the molds. Living and producing in Argentina has some challenges, as you might imagine. We began using an rtv silicone that came imported from Germany. It was quite excellent. As you can see, many of the first sets were available for years. The molds were very good.

During the last 10 years we've had some serious importation problems. Added to the fact that the company who imported the German silicone decided not to import from Germany any more, we had to try new products with the ongoing production, and we went from French RTvs, to Brazilian, and even to national attempts. This resulted in very large scale of mold quality, some of which barely lasted a few castings before damaging without repair. Some RTV silicones didn't even bear high temperatures, even if the company who sold the product assured that they did. This happened about 3 years ago, when I decided to buy the best RTV silicone myself, in the US, and bring it with me in my suitcase, believe it or not. Unfortunately it is not possible to import this products by mail from Argentina. Our importation laws and duties are quite restrictive.

So this is why some molds last much more than others. In a way it is a random pattern. So I have to check the molds every 4 or 5 months, hopefully to find that there are a few castings left before the total damage of the mold. Sometimes the mold gets so burned that it practically dissolves. In that case, the set is retired for good.

These are the sets that had to be retired this time:

Again, some of them can still be made (fewer every time, while the molds hold) and some others are definitely out of production. Please, email me if you are interested on any of them.

Ana
