I have finally started painting another Napoleonic Project,

this time its the Retreat to Corunna 1808, 'The Rear-guard', with figures from the 54mm Model range by Tradition of London.

I already have one set by the same maker of the 95th Rifle Regiment, Major General Robert Craufurd & Trooper 7th Hussars

Now its time for the other 12 part set based on a painting by Charles Stadden.

The first 4 figures are: Sgt William Newman, 2nd Battn, 43rd Regt, Trooper of 7th Hussars, Pte 71st Highland Light Infantry and Gunner, Royal Horse Artillery.

As the months go along, I'll get the remaining 8 figures completed, to reveal this sort of diorama.

Hope you like them,

John

These figures go back a few years - I remember seeing them for the first time in Military Modelling.

A fine start to your set John and looking forward to seeing the rest.

All the best. :salute::

Thanks for the encouragement Jeff,

AND on the bases there is CATON so looks like Allan did the sculpting :)

Thanks TROOPER for more of your wonderful work :)

Going back a few years? Try 45-50. A right blast from the past. Trooper

Hi All,
I got the" Retreat to Corunna " years ago . They are now divided up among other dio's. The figures are great especially as they are a good Chunky 58mm and go well with modern Britains etc. I have painted and repainted them several times over the years, mainly to fit in with whatever dio I am working on.
Regards,
Johnboy

Thanks for sharing! These look great and looking forward to seeing the rest of them soon.
Cheers,
Brendan

here are the next 4 figures in the range:

rtc2.jpg

Gordon Highlander (92nd Foot), Drummer Grenadier Guards (1st Foot Guards), Rifleman, 95th Rifles, Trooper 7th Light Dragoons (Hussars).

The drummer boy kit comes with the damaged gun carriage and ammo box.

4 more to go, so maybe in a couple of weeks I post their image and then a 'group shot' before I try and make a diorama base for the completed project.

I used to admire this set when I saw them in the catalog. If your first photos are a foretaste, John, you're going to have an excellent set when you finish.

Prost!

Preaching to the choir; I remember seeing them in Military Modelling as well in an advert, at the time I thought it was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen.

As a kid, England was the hub of the toy soldier universe, that is for sure...................

Here are the remaining 4 kits of the diorama

rtc3.jpg

Corporal 81st Regt of Foot, Wounded Pte 28th Regt of Foot, Trooper 16th Light Dragoons and a cart.

The next task will to be to pose them like in the painting, and then constructs a diorama base to suit..... but that will take some time.

Hope you like seeing this project 'in progress' but keep a lookout for the final setting.

Great figures. Great paint job. So good I had to revive this thread.

Was there ever a final cut?
