I saw this one when it came out and it was on TV the day I got married in 1984. (The TV was on where the best man, ushers and I were getting ready) It's not exactly history but more a narrative of the early US space program. My daughter and I are watching this 3 hour film on DVD. Before there was CGI, the special effects still hold up.

A wonderful movie that I also rewatched a couple of days ago. I am a sucker for good space program movies such as this and Apollo 13 and that HBO mini-series From the Earth to the Moon. The Right Stuff has a lot of name actors in it. Thought Sheppard as Yeager was the best. -- Al

Great film And have it on DVD ,I found it interesting as there a lot about Chuck Yeager in it in the start
