Guys, our good friend Rick a/k/a Panzer, an active duty U.S. Marine Lt. Colonel about to be posted to Iraq later this month, sent me a gift which I am beyond honored to add to the museum: a bottle of the black sand from Iwo Jima which has been sanctified by the blood of so many American heroes, as well as a re-paint of a Waffen SS trooper as a memeber of the Afrika Corps.
The sand will be placed an a Maiolica Urn and displayed in the cabinet in the museum containing my "Sands of Iwo Jima" pieces. The post card of Japan it came with will be displayed there as well. I will add only the following quote: "On Iwo Jima, uncommon valor was a common virtue."
The Afrika Corps Panzer Grenadier will be given a place of honor on one of my Afrika Corps dioramas (the only non-original K&C figure so displayed).
I can only say thank you, and be safe Rick. We want you, and all of our brave servicemen and women to come home alive and well. As Rick would say, "Semper fi!"
