Rifles and Gurkhas Uniform Question (1 Viewer)

My first question specifically involves Britains: On the hollowcast KRRC (and reissues), the officers seem to wear a black sash (left shoulder to right hip) and no belt, yet they have a scabbard for the sword on the left side. This would seem to pose a practical difficulty, even if this was only on parade. Did they have some method of dealing with the scabbard?

The second question is about the Gurkha officer's uniform. I'm doing a conversion to provide an officer for my Gurkhas and I found a website with old Player's cards showing a Burma Rifles officer wearing what is essentially a Gurkha uniform with the exception of a Wolsley helmet-would this be appropriate for a Gurkha officer? (I have read that the Burma Rifles at some point honored the Gurkhas by allowing them to use the red facings that show up on the old Britains). Any info appreciated-Cheers, Emily

The black "sash" is in fact a black patent leather pouchbelt with silver whistle and chain on the front. The sword was worn on a webbing belt under the coat and the sword was atteched with two slings. The scabbard was carried in the left hand.
The officers of gurkha troops wore the same hat as the men in khaki, a peaked cap with full dress green uniform in temperste climes and a white helmet in the tropics. There was some variation on this dependant upon the period.
