Just paying my respects to Robin Gibb who has died after his battle with illness. Not only was he part of a hugely successful group that sold millions of records worldwide and produced some of the most popular disco hits ever written but he was also a driving force behind the new Bomber Command memorial that will open in London next month. As I said before, for this he has my greatest respect and gratitude for helping to ensure that our Bomber Command Heroes who helped crush the Nazis and win the War have a fitting memorial in our capital city, he has my greatest respect.RIP

Was unaware about Robin Gibbs support for the Bomber Command memorial, shame about his passing, the Gibb family lived in Redcliffe during the 1960's which is the just across the bridge from where I live in Brisbane. RIP.

Thanks Rob, when you walk into the War Memorial in Canberra one of the most prominent displays is a tribute to the R.A.A.F crews who served with Bomber Command the centre piece being the Lancaster 'G for George'. Sadly it seems Robin Gibb was right, but it as been put right, pictures please when the memorial is opened.
Wayne.

Nice thread Rob. I am a big Bee Gees fan and it saddens me that we will never hear his awesome voice live ever again.

Rest in peace Robin.

Cheers Tom, even though my fave music has always been heavy rock I could still not only enjoy some of their hits but also appreciate how popular and what an effect they had in their heyday. Very sad news indeed.

And Wayne, will defo get pics when it opens.

This is a sad event. The last I heard was that he was on the mend and was out of his coma. The early BeeGee's music (read pre-disco), was their best and I still listen to it. RIP. -- Al
