A new book titled "Road to Dien Bien Phu" by Chris Goscha is being released Jan 11 2022. It is about the First Indochina War, 1945-1954. It looks very interesting. I know several of us are looking forward to receiving TGM's French Indochina Paratrooper this month, with more releases in the coming months, including a Chaffee Tank. I currently have a small display, titled "First Patrol", depicting my Atlas, Del Prado, K&C Club, and two Hachette FF Legionnaires being ambushed outside the drop zone perimeter at Dien Bien Phu on their first patrol. I have two FL and five K&C Vietnamese attacking. Fortunately for the French Legionnaires, a stray K&C water buffalo took the first hits, and saved them. HA! I hope to mix the TGM Legionnaires with the ones I currently have. I think it will work. I realize the Vietnamese are shooting with a SKS Carbine, but I figure by late 1953 Chinese militia units had probably brought some into North Vietnam. If not, it still works for me. Unfortunately, most of the Vietnamese figures on the market today are carrying AK-47s or RPG's. I don't believe North Vietnam had these weapons until the early 60s. Anyway, looking forward to the new book to add to my collection, and looking forward to these new releases. I really do need to make a Devil's Guard display. Maybe one day! Kent
