As most of you who collect this range know, the Centurion (ROM127) and the core Legionaries (ROM134-ROM142) of the "Adiutrix" Legion have been sold out almost since initial release. We have restocked these figures in limited quantities and they are now available for order again and shipping at the same time as the new release, right at the start of June. So if you want them, now is your chance. ;)

Best,

Without wishing to upset the powers that be, I have read that white tunics were mainly worn for parade or ceremonial duties and were not worn in the field. Is this correct?

This is what I believe: As no fabric swatches survived, no one knows what the tunic color for earlier Roman armies was. The cost of making and dyeing a tunic is considered a strong indication for which colors are probable and which ones are not. As they were out of linen (again I am reciting from memory), off-white is a safe bet, red dye was cheap and physiologically advantageous, purple highly unlikely as very expensive. I am in the camp of people who think white tunics were therefore very likely. But then I also believe that tunics might not have had the same color in a unit, but rather a consequence of availability and affordability.

Thank you for the response Andanna. I love FL's realism and if I'm investing in their new Roman ranges I want to know I am getting accuracy, as far as accuracy is possible. Some of us are just built that way!
