The backbone of the Roman Empire was certainly her Legions. For our initial release of Imperial Romans, we presented Legio I Minerva and Legio VI Victrix. Due to the success and rapid sellout of these figures, we are now following them up with Legio I Adiutrix. The new legion features white tunics and skirts and the classic “wreathe” shield design. Legio I Adiutrix was formed in 68 AD and took part in a variety of battles and campaigns including Germanic/Marcomannic Wars under Marcus Aurelius, the final battle of which was featured in the opening of the film "Gladiator." So they are a wonderful complement to Minerva and Victrix and allow for dioramas to now feature multiple legions each with a unique look deployed side by side. The release of this new legion also provides an opportunity for collectors who didn't collect the range from the beginning to pickup these figures which are central to the range. But word to wise - act quickly because the production run is extremely small and we don't expect these to last very long!!!

Well I guess doing a Diorama about Rome's Civil War's will give me a excuse to purchase these figures to battle against the initial release of Imperial Romans that I have in my Collection.I found this Historical article on Wikipedia about Rome's many civil wars that fit the time frame that I can build my Diorama. This also gives me piece of mind to continue my addiction to purchase First Legion Figures.

The Year of the Four Emperors was a year in the history of the Roman Empire, AD 69, in which four emperors ruled in succession: Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian.
The suicide of emperor Nero, in 68, was followed by a brief period of civil war, the first Roman civil war since Mark Antony's death in 30 BC. Between June of 68 AD and December of 69AD, Rome witnessed the successive rise and fall of Galba, Otho and Vitellius until the final accession of Vespasian, first of the Imperial Flavian dynasty, in July 69AD. The social, military and political upheavals of the period had Empire-wide repercussions, which included the outbreak of the Batavian rebellion.

Buying all the Crusaders that I want, this will be next after Christmas. Love it!!!.

Great series.
The first time I saw CRU093, I really liked it and decided that the hospitallers would be the first ones I will complete to add to my collection , and have bought every single one. Now I just need the Templars that I like and work on some doubles, of the hospitallers. And possibly start on the new Romans after Christmas. And I am hoping that Matt would make some crusaders to go with the ballista from the Romans, so the Crusaders can have a siege weapon.

I meant Scorpio.

Like others, Crusaders first and then hopefully some of these along with the Cavalry Ala.

I like that these will go with the Scorpion crew. I did not think of the civil war scenario, that is a great idea!

Yeah with the mold for the scorpio already done, all needed is a crusader or two holding bolts/ or aiming. And it will be a quick sell too, cause I believe the crusader line is a favorite of many.

Received CRU087, CRU091, and CRU094 today...they are great !

Yes, these look great figures. However I notice UK dealers are not stocking these new lines. I Can't find stockists of new Roman Cavalry or the previously released Afrka Korps. I don't fancy paying UK import duties if ordering from US. Any suggestions?

Those are great looking miniatures!!, I am starting the Templar side next, I really like the Teutonic Knight. I just wish there was more Teutonic pieces, hopefully Matt will retouch some minuatures and make them Teutonics.

I feel for you, most First Legion are all great looking!!, and us in the U.S. are real lucky, to have so many stores that offer their products, I live in California, which has rougly an 8 and half percent tax. So I order through Treefrog where there I do not have to worry about the sales tax. Best example is the Sherman tank that I bought, I would have paid another $26.00+ for the sales tax... that is another $26+ that went to help with my crusaders.

Not only does Treefrog handle the good lines, their staff treats customers like the olde Hobby Shops used to...they seem to appreciate a customers business...in the past I dealt with another supplier, who kept making it more difficult to purchase from them...at least for olde guys like me...more computerized with less customer interaction. Treefrog personnel seem very knowledgeable and posts very quickly.

We in the U.S. have it so good, that at times we do forget it. I personally have never had issues in ordering at Treefrog, as everyones knows it is real great!! Thanks TF. for making everything pleasurable!! It is greatly appreciated!!

Can you please tell me if the K&C Saracens will match up with these figures ?

Thank you

Thank you

They go together pretty well. I really like them, I have MK 35 to 37, MK 43 and 44, MK50 and 51, I will buy Mk99 eventually in the Saracen side. I put MK 131 with the FL Crusaders for my Christmas wish list as an option for a gift to me (wont hurt, lol) just because I really like to have a siege engine. I have not bought any FL Saracens/Mamluks. So I do not have a side to side view of combining the two. The Paint job of FL will be a step up at the very least of course. But I myself is enjoying both.

I only have one K&C Crusader with my FL Crusaders and Saracens. I find the difference to be too great, but I am picky. I have seen pictures with them mixed and it did not seem to be that big of a difference.

I have stayed away from KC Standard Bearers, I have bought some, just because I pretty much buy one first and if I like how it looks I build pieces around it. Never been impressed with KC battle Flags/ Standards, so I have returned them.

You have some nice figures, I am looking at MK099 also and MK110 to go with my CRU091, that is why I asked the question.

Agree with you on the painting...tough to match FL in this price range.

Good luck on receiving the Ballista...that is a nice set.

Merry Christmas !
