Liking the new releases of Roman Civilians, the ones I recognise as being inspired by the drawings of Ron Embleton are favourites of mine and hope that a few more other than the already announced future Roman Civilians releases such as the seated Lady, the men seen working on the construction of Hadrian's Wall, the crouching painter, the Flour mill and mule Farmer ploughing, the slave girl carrying the buckets and finally, at least in this suggestions post, the knife vendor and his little display case.

You are most correct Steve, I have been a huge fan Of Ron Embleton since I first discovered his work in ‘Look and Learn’ back in the 1960s. As a young schoolboy Ron’s meticulous artwork was truly inspiring and made me want to be an illustrator.

A few years later when I got to Glasgow School of Art my two chosen speccialities were Graphic Design and…Illustration!

Jump forward more than a few years and thanks to King & Country’s success I was able to buy several original artworks that were produced by Ron that I am very privileged to own.

He was an incredible artist with an amazing talent to tell stories in pictures…and his Roman illustrations are a countless source of inspiration for me and K&C.

All the best and thankyou for also appreciating Ron’s work,
Andy.

Yes the Look and Learn Magazines were great. Don't think there is anything like it for kids these days, I suppose it was of its time.

As I get a few more of the Romans, I think I may have a go at trying to reproduce the Ron Embleton drawings as K&C Vignettes / Dioramas and if anyone else likes the idea, why not give it a go, I'm sure many of us would like to see photos !
