The Gothes and Sarmatians were allied against Rome and occupied the Hungarian plain and the Ukraine during the 3rd Century AD.

Nice Galley Kat, did you make it yourself from some plans ?

Steve

Steve it is a modified and repainted Playmobil Roman Galley. $31.00 on Amazon. I repainted the sail and found a Roman decal I applied at the center. The Country Honor Scorpion fits well on the forward deck. The Roman Legionaries are a mix of TCS and Conte. The Gothes and Sarmatians are a mix of Del Prado and Conte figures. The watch tower is built with Exin blocks and a Playmobil roof from a Castle. The backdrop is a 24 X 36 inch poster from Amazon. I am glad you like it!

Very clever on the way you have incorporated the backdrop. Makes for an interesting scene. Robin.

Very creative with a mixing and matching of various elements. I agree with Robin, good choice for the backdrop.

I am going to go with the Goth and Sarmatian raiding party to be enjoying a cruise on a river boat that evening ....!

Nice job on the Galley Kat and a whilst docked a good stand in for the conte one as the oars would be withdrawn into the ship presumably.

Steve

Steve the Playmobil boat comes with 5 oars per side. Oars were not deployed when favorable wind and currents prevailed and as you point out are shipped when in port. I will probably do another scene with the oars out. The Playmobil boat is a real value for the money. Made from thick ABS plastic and it actually floats. Thanks for the comments.

Larry the backdrop is a poster from Amazon. I have used a number of photographic posters 24 X 36 inches for backdrops of dioramas ranging from Winter War to Roman Sieges and they work quite well at little cost.

When you can't acquire the pieces to make a scene, I generally build them myself. Your improvisation has created a great diorama. The Roman theme as I said to Steve is very popular on the forum at the moment. Your display is another different variation on this period. Well done. Regards Greg.
