Given the interest in Rome and the Legions Roman 1/30 scale fortifications and buildings are unavailable except for the K&C Mile Castle, City Gateway and Triumphal Arch. The modular design of the excellent K&C Mile Castle allows other fortifications to be constructed. Form members have constructed wood fortifications and watchtowers for some excellent Roman dioramas. I have developed some techniques to utilize Exin blocks to build a variety of Roman stone fortifications and Temples to 1/30 scale. I have recently improved the design of a Roman Gateway I previously posted and thanks to a critique of my Roman Temple design by Fitzgibbon; I have tried to improve it too. The second photo shows the improved version and the third photo shows to original version. The Temple is 12 inches wide and 14 inches tall or 35 feet tall at 1/30. The figures are 75mm for reference. The Photo give an idea of what can be built using Exin blocks. A photo of the Temple of Minerva in Tunisia shows how the Romans used ashlar blocks in temple construction as well as in fortifications.
I am currently working on a Roman Triumphal Arch large enough for a 1/30 scale War Elephant to walk through! I will post when it is completed.
