Hi collectors
I found a huge Roman Trireme, which seems to be in 1/30th, 119cm (43in) long!!!
It is slightly bigger than my Andrea Miniatures 1/32 Roman Bireme
Any of you have seen one of this before? It seems to require some repairs, nothing terrible as I was told it is more than 80 years old...
Do you think it is worth purchasing?
Are the dimensions close to the Conte version?
Need your opinions please

it looks far too short compared to the Conte Roman one. My Conte one is about 80cm long.

And it looks too tall compared to the Conte one. looks completely unseaworthy!

I would have to agree the dimensions appear to be off. I see a couple of drawings that this resembles, but most examples are longer and sleeker. Also, the double row of fighting ports (if that is what they are) seems redundant.

Thanks for your help friends!
Bradley, could you show me one of those drawings?
Although not a exact replica, it would look terrific with some Romans figures inside...and just for under us$200

Too short? It is 110cm long and your Conte is about 80cm... cheers

Looks good. The only thing that would put me off is the stand. The Conte sits on a flat hull which I prefer. Robin.

The proportions are wrong. The stern is wrong. Google Roman Trireme and select images. I have the Heller 1/72 Imperator model Roman Trireme which is historically accurate and entirely different than the model under discussion.

What matters is how the ship and figures fit together. It looks like a great model but I image it’s also pretty pricey so make sure the figures go with it and if they match up for you then go for it

I think that someone spent a lot of time and effort making this and that it makes an impressive piece. How many history buffs will see it as opposed to an audience that will like it for what it is rather than what it represents? Sink it into some foam and build a water base - this will lower the apparent centre of gravity and make it more believable as a floating object. I think you have a bargain for a display piece, and a unique model; just display the heck out of it :)

This boat is a vintage item, one of its kind, 80 years ago there were no internet and probably no reference books, luckily it was built in a very close to 1/30th scale, so although it is a perfect copy it may be a perfect display for Romans figures... cheers

Below us$200... so it is a real bargain regarding nowadays prices for new items...

Holy cow that is really a great price! I figured it would be more like 1500+. That would make me buy it if I collected this era.😀

To my mind - the only question that is relevant is................

Do you like it?

If the answer is yes - then go for it! Who cares what others like or don't like. jb

If this was local, it would be in my room covered with Romans.
