Bernard has a requirement for a set of outriders for his Britains Royal Horse Artillery set shown here.
The outriders are currently 11th Hussars and the Officer is the Dragoon Officer from the 7th DG's set that I repainted a little while ago.
A replacement Hussar head from Ducal will be welded to the soon to be headless Officer figure and then a repaint will start on all five figures to match the Trooper from the team.

Does this make sense to anyone???:confused::D:D:D

Jeff

P.S........Bernard, which head do you want to go with?

Well it does, but why wouldn't you just use the rearing officer as the new officer??

Britains already make a trooper of King's Troop RHA in their ceremonial collection(no 48504). Surely it would be better to use this figure which has the correct jacket rather than overpainting a conventional hussar? Admittedly this figure has a base which is anathema to Bernard, but if that proves too much of a problem then why not use Nolan? He would need a new head and the trousers would have to be painted to represent boots but it would still be a b etter choice than a hussar figure.

That figure isn't out yet and it is too large when compared to these figures (not even mentioning the plate LOL). I think Bernard is after the "OLD" toy soldier style though. The uniform of the Hussar & the RHA don't look that disimilar to me so I think it should work.

here's a photo of Britains set 39 -- you can see for yourself how the outriders and officer look.

Do I hear mumblings in the ranks "YOU HORRIBLE EXCUSES FOR SOLDIERS" Don't you know who I am LORD CARDIGAN, nearly had that fellow Nolan flogged for putting a Brown bottle on my table. GADS SIRS, good job it wasn't a GREEN bottle,:p and good job I am deaf did I hear an outrider mentioned on a PLATE,nearly fell off me horse then. When you see the magic distemper brush in action Troopers there will be plenty of green its called (envy) :D. The 11th Hussar model is the only one that could be used for this set, as the Old Britains set # 39 outriders carrying carbines, and a rearing officer same type waiting for Dickbritains to post photo of set # 39. Right that's sorted. lol.
Yo Jeff, Like the Ducal head with the large plume, there is a saying where I come from ("if you can't fight get a big Hat") lol. You haven't shown the non-believers the new 7th Dragoon officer, or did you think it was to much excitement for one night lol
Bernard.
Yo Dick, cheers mate now they can see where I am coming from.
Bernard.

Bernard,

I've posted this figure on the 7th DG thread.

Jeff

I removed the Dragoon Officers head with a pair of cutters and drilled out the neck to take the plug of the new Hussars head. A drop of super glue gel and the figure is ready for a repaint.

Jeff -- been waiting anxiously to see how Officer looks with his new head painted. What's the mater -- no rainy days?

Dick,

The weather has been quite good, but I've run out of green paint for the head!:D.........no not really, been very busy work wise and I still have to finish off Konrad's Napoleonics. I hope to get going again tomorrow.

Thanks for asking btw.

Jeff

Jeff -- if you are serious -- there's a Home Depot near me, and I am willing to stop by and have a few cases of green paint mailed to you C.O.D. if that would be of assistance. (LOL).

Oh, that's right Dick, send more green to those who need it heh?:D

The Troopers-to-be (ex Hussars) have had a tunic and breeches repaint in dark blue, mixed from dark blue and black to cover all the previous painted detail.

The Officer has had his new head undercoated with grey primer...........I made a paper cloak that covered the rest of the figure and then sprayed the exposed bit. He also has had a dark blue makeover.

All four Troopers together in case you thought I had only painted one of them.

Yo Jeff, looking good. :D:D:D:D.
Bernard.

That's a real nice, deep shine you've got going on there Jeff. Looking good.

Black paint of the Headdress, Boots and Flounce for the Officer and a re-paint of these and a new red Busby Bag for the Troopers. The horses had the black treatment for their manes and tails to match the RHA team horse.
