Anyone have a photo of the Royal Marine Drum Band in red rather than blue?

Do you mean the Royal Marine Light Infantry (RMLI), Markey? Royal Marines wore red tunic jackets for long periods of time - so what time period were you thinking of?

There is this marvelous picture of the RMLI Band (including drummers at the front) painted by the Victorian artist Richard Simkin - is this the time period you mean around the turn of the century? Remember, the Royal Marines - were re-formed again in 1923 - when the Royal marine Artillery (RMA) and RMLI almalgamated once again - and when the band began wearing the familiar (mainly) blue dress tunics of today - though still retaining some of the old RMLI features of the past. Is this what you're after? jb

Mark,

I think this is what you mean. I had to reduce this for the Forum software but can send you a better one via email.

Brad

By this this was part of a special card series issued by K & C in the 90s.

Brad,

This is the photo I was looking for, thank you!

I couldn't find the photo in the K&C book. What does the "C" stand for in RMDC? Also, thank you Jonny for the RM history!

Mark,

It's Royal Marines Drum Corps.

Do you want me to send you a better scan via email or is this enough?

Brad

Kirk,

K & C put out a brochure in the 90s made of ten different cards showing their sets. The last two photos were on card front and back.

Brad,

This is good for now, thank you! I have a new thought regarding how to display...tell me what you think? I was thinking of making quality prints of certain brouchures and then display the shelf/s just as the brochure is depicted, with of course the brochure displayed in the back ground? As I was going through the older brochures, I relized I have very many that I can recreate just like the original brochures.

Thanks Brad , after I got the F&D set , in the 90's , I asked K&C if there were companion sets but they replied they were no longer in production

Regards
Kirk
