Now that we have learnt that there will be a Royal Wedding next year I was wondering if we might see a new glossy series made to coincide with it? Hopfully we will see a Royal coach & escorts made even if nothing else is?

Craig

Sounds like a great idea Craig, would be a nice change as currently there are no other Royals depicted and few have been over the years. Nothing was done for the wedding of Charles & Diana.

Also lets not forget Her Majesty's Golden Jubilee the year after which I think deserves some figures.

Hasn't the Queen had her golden jubilee already Scott? Im all for more jubilee figures though the last lot that Britains made ain't really up to the new standards.

She has sorry I meant Diamond Jubilee got carried away LOL

I think also some dismounted state trumpeters would be nice and I don't think they have been made before.

yes they would be nice i dont believe they have been made before! I would still like to see some new versions of the canadian mounties made like what was made for the last jubilee range but up to the redcoats standard.

I think a reissue of the State Landau would also be great with larger horses and new figures.

I like this idea of a some for the royal wedding and especially for the Diamond Jubilee. I hope Richard and Ken are listening!

Actually, I believe they did a portrait set of Charles and Diana - I have a friend who owns it. But you're correct that no landau or other pagentry acessories were made. I love this stuff, but I'm not sure if current tastes support this kind of set nowadays.

If you ever get a chance it would be nice to see this set as I don't ever remember it being documented.

I'd also like to see the set if you ever get the chance to photogragh it? As Scott said I don't know of any reference to this set I'd of thought it would of been listed in the great book of britains?

Hi Guys,

I think the set for the wedding was done by another maker. I have seen the one refered too but for the life of me cant find it in my pile of books and I have been digging for a while tonight. I will figure it out and let you know.

I think you are right Dave, otherwise it needs to be on my list of must haves !!!

The Charles Diana piece was made by Phoenix Miniatures, with the couple standing on a heart-shaped base. Charles was as tall as Diana.
I have one in my collection.

Hi Victor

Can you post a photo of it? One recently sold on ebay that I believe was a proto-type/factory master but it looks like Marlborough/Blenheim style.
Dave

Here are two pics of Charles and Diana figures.

The first is by Blenheim Military Models scanned from the book on Collecting New Toy Soldiers by Stuart Asquith.

The second is by Phoenix Miniatures in my collection.
