Here is some more info for you about that:

The training and equipment program for the Georgian army to bring the army to the NATO standards began in 2000.

The head of the American mission in Georgia Robert Walthameyer, then solemnly announced that by decision of the American government, American instructors began to train Georgian special forces.


The US instructors undertook the preparation of several mobile and well-equipped formations ready to conduct modern military operations, taking into account the American experience in warfare.

Then, in 2004, the US ambassador to Tbilisi, Richard Miles, said that US military instructors would remain in Georgia on an ongoing basis.

According the experts by 2008 the Georgian army training was at the highest level according to the NATO standard.
