The Germans were big on re-use of captured material. This leads to very interesting scenes for modelers or diorama builders.

One interseting photo showed up in a book on Patton's attack on Metz, France in the fall of 1944. A Russian 76.2mm field gun had been captured by the Germans and used by one of their units, then the gun was captured by the US Army and the photo shows it being fired by GIs against its former captors.

Hi Guys,

This was very common for Armies to do. The reuse of equipment make a great deal of sense from a Logisitics point of view especially when you over run vast quanities of material in supply depots like the Germans did during the opening phases of Barbarossa. They also used French Equipment and other Allied equipment. I have seen several interesting photos and have a book on the Germans reuse of the many Tanks they took from the Czechs and French etc.

All the best

Dave
