Hi All,
I had been quietly doing this piece for a few months now because I was doubtful whether I could finish it satisfactorily. Starting from a very disappointing Russian casting procured many many years ago from a company named Joy's Toys (don't ask...., I had sprayed it with matt primer but could not bring myself to paint it then.
I decided to strip off the paint and reconvert this figure into something more aesthetically acceptable.
I had to deal mainly with the basic anatomy. Using the back of the original figure as a guide, a flowing cloak was created to add bulk to this piece. When this was achieved empirically (meaning that there was no grand plan in the first place), I then added more detail to the costume and also resculpted the helmet. The final painting of the piece was just done and the base was glossed over, awaiting final lettering.
