I just visited the Maritime museum in San diego,,wonderful exhibits,,the russ foxtrot class sub- being able to crawl over everything with no other persons on board due to the early hour..the periscope sighted on "carrier row" across the harbor,,USS Enterprise in the crosshairs undergoing maint. Da my man.

I think I saw that sub in British Columbia. They tow it up and down the coast and put it on display. As I recall it seemed a little crude and lacking in any type of creature comforts. I am sure it was deadly to both its' enemies and inhabitants........................

It almost sank as it was being towed down from BC . . .

I was surprised that the interior was so crude with so much flammable material. No wonder so many Soviet boats had serious fires. Certainly an easy boat to get around in, at least for this old geezer!

The first dozen feet were rebuilt from sheet styrene or something after the bashing,,not an ipms repair to say the least,,they have a template hatch ring set up as a test fit for boarders,,I wasnt exactly running thru like the das boot guys but made it. I took some interior shots to post when my desktop emerges from the dead. the exhibit had some periscope photos of U S carriers taken in the past,,including the midway also moored down the block these days,,a bit clausto for an old army type.
