Salinger and I share an alma mater. I never thought he was all that great, though, nor did I think "Catcher in the Rye" was such a great novel. Holden Caulfield needed a smack upside the head.

That will be a must see. What teenage boy didn't step into manhood without reading "Catcher in the Rye."
Perhaps marketing with named stars has something to do with it, but Martin Sheen, Danny DeVito, Ed Norton,
and John Cusack are not the first people I’d choose for opinions of J.D. Salinger. Hopefully they were well scripted.

Lots of media reports this week that appear to confirm that a number of new Salinger works will be published in the coming years including some that continue the story of Holden Caulfield. That will be quite a literary event if it happens. It's going to be very difficult to satisy the fans of Catcher in the Rye though. That book has cult-like status.
