Hi Matt,
since you have started a series of "mounted personalities" within your Napoleon's Europe range I am curious if something similiar is planned for the "Age of the Samurai" range?
Any info or hint would be appreciated.

Hmm...personalities...well, I can't promise they'll all be mounted, but I can promise you there will be personalities. For example, I assume you mean figures like these two? :D

Those of you waiting for Samurai will not be disappointed, I promise. ;)

Stunning, Matt,
these are very cool.
Thanks for the quick response.

Did Oda Nobunaga have a suit of converted European armor as well? Tokugawa Ieyasu is reported to have worn armor of Spanish manufacturer.

from my limited knowledge, yup, he had. he bought them with the help of the the Portuguese Jesuits.

hm,they look "plastic" material to me.
Is anyone know if teh Samurai wear the same uniform(?) or they just have this flags so they know in the battle which clans they are,or they have like the same colour of shirts,pants,...or is this free and they dress what ever they dress and they put this flags on their back.Or is there any diferent helmet they were acordint to clans they are with?
I know that daimo,shogun,...they wear pretty and rich outfits,helmets,swords,...but what about their army?
Did we talk about the organize (same uniform army) or we talk about the peasents who just fight for their lord and they wear what they get and put a flag on thei back and go fight?

If I'm not mistaken, that photo is of the sculpting proofs, which are used for the molds to make the metal figures.;):) I believe Matt is just giving an advance look at the work in progress on these. If you go to the FL site you will see many of their figures in progress stages in their "Work Bench" section.

These are actually images of original sculptures.

Knowing Matt, they must be in some kind of plastic I guess ;-).

Joke apart, these sculpts looks absolutely fantastic!

I have been waiting for years that some manufacturer does a samurai range up to these standards! Now FL is doing it and I am very much looking forward to the upcoming releases whcih I can assure you will be the best - yes the best - ever seen in the so-called "toy soldier" world. Historical accuracy included!

Congrats Matt for a highly anticipated samurai.

well do not get me wrong i am a big Samurai fan and matt know that i ams ure,but i just hope there is some colour missing and that this samurai after the painter get them in his hands will not look like this, because lets face it now they are not too atractive with this white colour, orange bear,...look very plastic to me,but i am sure this is not the final product :D:D:D and i am looking forward to see the real deal

BA-DA-BUM!

Don't laugh, someone ran a search on our website last night for "plastic samurai toy warriors." I just have to shake my head and carry on.

Glad you like them. I thought you might. ;)

Best,

Matt

Although the world of the Samurai's is one area in which I have very little if not zero knowledge in . I now find myself looking at these figures and going back to see the other new figures and saying to myself **** they look good . Maybe I should buy a book on the topic and maybe pickup one or two figures . Curse you First Legion  ! Your pulling me in  Must be strong and stick to the Nappy's

This is what i am talking about days ago.
Why not make a book of the Samurais, their tactics,warlords,shogun,daimos,...weapons,uniforms,battles,....because they are very interesting wariors but also very unknown,so i really have no idea who is Oda Nonubaga(is he cool or not) and who is who in which clan,...so it will be much easyer to display them when we know who fight who

There are no fewer than 13 Osprey titles on the Samurai, many of which are available quite cheap in great used condition from sites like Abes Books and Albris. You can also find many of them as free download pdf files by simply searching for Osprey Samurai. They would be a great way to start for those who want to learn more.

While not my interest, I do seem to remember Osprey has done a couple of thier special hardback editions about the Samurai. Those are usually well worth the money.
