Sarajevo (1 Viewer)

A crime investigator take on the assignation in Sarajevo in 1914. I liked it, but don't
expect a detailed history lesson. It centers around the Magistrate Leo Pfeffer's investigation,
who finds himself targeted by the shadowy perpetrators.

Ah, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I wasn't expecting the Serbs and Bosnians to be portrayed in western (Austrian-style) garb. However, I did happen to see a few in traditional Slavic folk attire. I do wonder though, is the movie entirely historically accurate, or mere fancy?

I do know that historically, the investigator behind the assassination was Freidrich von Wiesner, who reported to and was working under Foreign Minister Leopold von Berchtold and historically, Leo Pfeffer (who later went on to be a prominent American Jewish lawyer) was born in 1910 in Austria-Hungary, hardly putting him of age to be an investigator.

None the less it was a good movie.

:salute::

I saw it recently and liked it but I wasn't expecting the alternate theory that it was the Austrians who wanted the war against Serbia and that they planned to have the Archduke killed. That defies history.

Tried to watch this off of Netflix only to discover there were no English subtitles/translation available. There was German, French, and Spanish, but no English, so I watched a few minutes only to throw in the towel. This is a disappointment because it is a subject matter I really like. Don't understand why there is no translation available for something on Netflix. -- Al

Al, I watched it on Netflix with English subtitles do not sure why you couldn't. Did you double check your options.

Brad, it is a puzzler. I checked everything I could and there simply was no English choice available. I'll go back and check again, as I am not the sharpest techno-wiz around.:redface2: -- Al

There were subtitles when I watched it. Check your Netflix settings.

I just watched a few minutes on my computer, and there were subtitles.

I checked again. There is an Audio choice of Brazilian Portuguese German, French, Spanish and English. Choice
for subtitles is the same less Portuguese, plus Chinese.

Thanks to all for cluing me in on the subtitles. Ends up I didn't scroll far enough down to get to the English option. As I said, I'm not good with technology. This movie makes a lot more sense when one can understand what is being said. I really enjoyed this, especially all the detail, uniforms, clothing, locals, etc. -- Al
