That is a long walk sammy. There will be stuff left over. The room trading is the most fun though. It is a great way to make friends and renew acquaintences. I hope things are ok so I can go. No repeats of last year.

There will be plenty of room trading on Saturday, you should be able to find something.

If the reason you're going to Chicago is to find retired stuff, you'll be disappointed. The best thing about the Chicago show is meeting people, seeing people you haven't seen in a year and just going from room to room seeing the different product, even if it's stuff you don't collect.

Two years ago (my second time), I went with the intention of trying to find retired stuff and drove myself crazy and it wasn't as much fun. Last year, I took the opposite tack and didn't worry about and had the best time ever.

If you can't make it until Saturday, you might as well stay home................................not!

The room trading will be cranking along on Saturday and Sunday is the actual show when all the dealers hump their stock downstairs into the many function rooms.

The K & C dinner is Friday night, so you'll be missing that I'm afraid; the Figarti luncheon is Friday as well.

Maybe someone will offer a up a free breakfast for you on Saturday.

Too bad you can't make it there by Friday Sammy as between the luncheon and the dinner, everyone will be eating and not shopping, so you'd have the place all to yourself................................

I also learned that at least the dealers I am interested in (hopefully George being the exception), do not offer a show discount on their products. That is unfortunate as there are no real savings vs. buying from the INTERNET/catalog.

I hence need to agree with George that the personal contact and possibly seeing some figures "live" that you only saw on the INTERNET or in print, appear to be the real benefits of the show.

Where do you sign up for the F. luncheon and the KC dinner?

Andanna,

A few weeks before the Show, Rick will post something here.

Regarding the K & C dinner, I think to go you need to be a customer of one of the dealers sponsoring it (Sierra, Treefrog, Sagers and Troops in Time). However, don't hold me to that.

Andreas,
All I can say about the show is whatever you are picturing it to be like in your mind, you will be blown away when you actually get there and see if for yourself.

You really need to do both the show and the room trading as both present unique opportunities to meet dealers, see product and chat with fellow collectors.

There is no other show like it in the world, glad you are able to come this year....................

You do not need to be a customer to purchase a ticket (at least last year), I was new to the forum last year and purchased the ticket to the dinner through Treefrog. Although, I am a customer now and have an account with Treefrog.

I have been going to the Chicago show for about eight years and last year was the first time I heard of the KC dinner.:( I found out about the dinner through the forums.

Me too, First Time on Chicago...YES..:D:)

After seven missions at the West Coaster I will finally venture to the MTO/ETO for the Chicago show with a scheduled Thursday milk run mission running through Sunday. Looking forward to meeting & seeing the "USUAL SUSPECTS" as always.

Details on the K&C dinner will be coming before too long...details being pinned down as we speak.

I'll be there for the first time in 3 years! :) Arriving on Thursday night, but will need to vacate the Sunday show by 1:30pm for the airport... Hopefully, I can attend the K&C event... Does anyone know if Britains and/or Figarti will be having a lunch or dinner? Thanks.

Figarti usually has a lunch on Friday.:)

Due to my son's concert that weekend :(, I will only be there Thursday and Friday. What a bummer. Better than nothing I guess.

Looks like the plan is to drive from Toronto through Port Huron to Chigago. Would drive on Thursday to arrive Thursday late afternoon. Not looking forward to the 9+ hour drive, but the cheapest flights and fares to and from airports add $500 over the cost of driving.

The main reason I am going is to meet a few people and attend the Figarti lunch and K&C dinner. I do not know how long I will stay Saturday/Sunday. Probably will stay in the same hotel as the show.

Terry check from buffalo, flights are cheaper. Airports only like 15mins over the border.

Not anymore. Porter Air flies from Toronto Island to Midway Field in Chicago for $139 Canadian each way vs $117 US from Buffalo. Adding airport taxes and cab rides at both ends, it is much cheaper for me to drive and much more flexible. I will just have to make a drive of it, an hour at a time and not do what I used to do which was try and get there all at once.
