I have ...amazingly enough..found a craft store in Perth that sells Premoi......I am familer with sculper but not Premoi.....is premoi stronger and more flexibly than normal sculpey when baked ? ......sculpey is fine to work with but can be brittle.......is premoi more durable ?....TomB

"Premoi"? Never heard of it, only Sculpey and SuperSculpey. The difference between those two is the fineness of the putty's grain, as far as I know. Not sure what "Premoi" is.

Prost!

Re: Sculpey Premoi ...any good ? (Sculpey Premo!)

Ah, I see, it's your typing, it's Sculpey Premo!, not "Premoi". Here's a link at the company's website, describing the product:

I've not used it, only the basic Sculpey.

My lousy spelling.....My wife does Arts and Craft and was told Premo is great...much better than the normal sculpey and a bit stronger.....to my great joy I found I can buy it here in Perth....AMAZING.....I will have to travel a bit to get it but I think it may be worth the effort....if it is as good as stated that will be terrific and may solve a few problems I am having....normal sculpey is fine but too brittle when dropped...arms and legs tend to go flying off never to be seen again.....( I dont always re-enforce with wire),,even with the wire in place you can sometimes get a break but the arms and legs stay put....if I can get a reasonable near break proof figure I would be very happy....will let you know what it is like to use when I obtain some in a day or so,,,,,,regards TomB

I've found Sculpey to be pretty good, but it's not practical to have to bake it to cure it. For me, it means that I can't really use it with other things, like styrene or metal, because of the impact of heating them. Also, it does eventually seem to go bad and cure by itself. It is easy to work, though.

Prost!

Heat is no problem with sculpey....a year or so ago I brought a plastic kit ...very basic horses and riders as I could not be bothered making horses,....I was making cartoon cowboys and indian for some kids......I tested the plastic (Very Hard) to see if it melted under the heat I used to bake the sculpey...it was okay....I sawed the horses heads off....drilled a small hole into the neck and forced a small length of wire into the hole to use as a anchor and support for a cartoon horse head which I modeled from sculpey.... the sculpey cooked fine attached to the plastic,,,saddle..blanket ..no problem.....I find if I keep the sculpey in an airtight jar or box it will last forever...maybe....I have found some plastic soldiers will melt....I have also found resin ...or at least the stuff I had ,,,will not melt and sculpey can be added to it and baked....I made an ruined Abby section... mostly resin with small parts of sculpey added to it....the smell of the heated resin is rather toxic though .....I like to experiment with things........too bad I did not have an inquiring mind at school....regards TomB
