I was inspired and really wanted some German and Dunkelgrau. It is much more foreboding that way. So I thought I would start at the beginning. First three shots are the original NMA paint job for summer. Not bad but, not scary.

Sorry this was a DAK vehicle, originally

Completely undercoated/base coated in flat black. It is sometimes suggested that one starts in a base color several shades darker than you wish it to be finished in.

As we see below it already has taken on a foreboding, ominous, appearence. All I have done is dry brushed it in to colors white, and tan yellow. Then picked up the plates as they are white. (Don't want to waste paint.);) I also have done a light wash to enhance the mottled ness of the paint. Now when the crews whitewashed their vehicles they would leave the markings uncovered. All I have to do there is use some dark grey and apply decals, which are somewhere around here. I always find them when they aren't needed:rolleyes:

The next shots will be where I pck up the details like the helmets, tools, petrol cans, tarps and exhaust system. I will base coat them and things will stand out. i will also add several more washes to lighten the vehicle more.

More work on the SdKfz. Picking up base colors of the details. I got so wrapped up I for got to take progress shots:eek:
Things I will add decals , the balkankrues, and license numbers. Finally a clear coat after that dries I will blackline the rest of the details. The exhaust mufflres/silencers got a coat of gunmetal, then parasite brown and then light brown.

KV:

Sorry that I missed this post till now. Nice photo summary of a splendid looking project. Looking forward to "Operation Winter Sturmtiger Crane."

All The Best,
Marc

PS: Any plans for Chicago at all?

KV As usually another terrific job, can't wait to see it completed.:)
