Ladies and Gentlemen

Does anyone have any information on the orginial Seaforth Highlander series. Especially looking for information on 2 Special Boxed Sets called the "The Last Stand of the Seaforths". I have information on the other sets, but as always extra information would be most helpful.

This is one of finest sets of soldiers I have seen and the presentation box is simply outstanding.

All information welcome

Dear Mike,

I know Louis will be asking this question, but are you going to be selling these two Special Boxed Sets?

Steven

Yes we will although very tempted to add it to the King and Country Collection.

Dear Mike

If you decide to sell, I would appreciate an e-mail, which can be found in the Members List. Thank you for your time and kind attention.

Mike, I know you've a great reputation as Sierra in California and as SouthBay on eBay so I'm reluctant to point out inanities but if you look at Steve Balkin's site he indicates that he still has a number of Seaforths in stock:

http://www.burlingtontoys.com/BT/se...token2=true&Page=1&CID=2139423923930200464311

They're referenced as 119, 207, 209 and 253. Andy produced these from the 1980s to the early 1990s in various guises but perhaps Steve could offer a fellow dealer some ideas on the referencing. As far as I can remember the last set I had didn't have anything other than a raw "K&C" on the base and perhaps Steve's photos can confirm that you've complete sets?
I know it's a somewhat ridiculous response given your long involvement with K&C but I just thought it might be no harm to check that the sets are complete before even going down the road of pricing them.

Regards,
J

First, with regard to Joe's kind referral to Burlington's, Hans and I cleaned out their supply of Seaforths about a year ago, they just haven't updated the website.

Second, here is an exerpt from Chapter 2 about the Last Stand of the Seaforths:

"Appearing in 1987-1989 were . . . the “Last Stand of the Seaforths Connoisseur Edition” (29 figures, 2 horses, 2 Medical Chests, 5 Ammunition Boxes, and 2 Rifles in a Special gift box) and “Highland Brigade Vignette Edition” (13 figures, 1 Medical Chest, 2 Ammunition Boxes, and 1 Rifle in a Special gift box).
The large special edition boxes deserve a special mention. These large flat square boxes, which held gift sets of as many as 36 foot figures or 12 mounted figures, had blue tops covered with special “King & Country” labels on which 19th Century black and white military prints (mentioned in footnote 1) are reproduced. These exceptionally rare presentation boxes are quite elegant and must have made for impressive Holiday gifts. Among the sets the author has seen in these presentation boxes are a complete set of the Bahamas Police Band with marching Bahamas policemen, the two aforementioned Seaforth sets, a complete patrol (1 officer, 1 bugler and ten standing lancers) of 16th Lancers, 12th Lancers, New South Wales Lancers, Duke of Connaught's Own Bombay Lancers, and 25th Frontier Force Cavalry Lancers, and a set of the Royal Horse Artillery Gun Team."

I hope this answers your questions about this set.

Here's one more excerpt with the details of the set:

"The “Last Stand of the Seaforths Connoisseur Edition”, which was available in either Khaki or Red coated Seaforths, consisted of following figures: 4 Standing firing, 4 Standing at the ready, 4 Kneeling firing, 4 Kneeling at the ready, 3 prone dead Highlanders, 2 Standing at the ready wounded corporals, 1 Piper, 1 Mounted Officer, 1 Dismounted Field Officer firing sidearm, 1 Drummer Boy, 1 Lieutenant holding Queen's Color, 1 Lieutenant holding Regimental Standard 72nd Foot, and included the following accessories: 2 Medical cases, 2 Large ammunition crates and lids, 3 Small crates, and 2 Horses - one for mounted officer and one dead horse for the dismounted field officer."
