I wonder if I could ask any of the many experts on here what they have used for Seaweed in a dio or if indeed they used the real stuff and it worked?.

Thanks

Rob

Hand rolling tobacco painted green and black works well, it also makes very realistic used stable straw.

I live on an island, Galveston, Texas.

We got all the seaweed you need, lol.

I think the scale would be way wrong for 54-60mm.

Stinks like hell too...the older it gets...the worse it smells.

I have never used it....but if you give it a shot...please post some photos.

The truth is....the longer you keep it...the more the smell disappears...seaweed is an algae...and it will eventually die and become a little brittle...it might work...so many varieties...you know...it's a staple in some cultures diet...an Asian habit I think.

Tobacco.............TOO EXPENSIVE!!!!

Are you thinking of making miniature sushi rolls for your diorama? :)

Rob,
I have thought about your desire (for approx. 10 seconds) and I thought maybe those sub/hero/sandwhich/grinder toothpicks with the plastic 'fetti would work (minus the toothpick). Maybe something like that material in green, and some brown water based paint mixed in the stuff?
Lord knows where you would get it...just an idea.

"Use model seaweed that can be acquired by visiting your closest model shop"

I've never seen model seaweed before Rob, especially at my closest model shop...better luck at a craft store I'd reck. Now what about those sea rocks for the rocky coast, where on earth would you get those?:p

Marble chippings from a monumental masons, the type used on some graves. Ideal for piles of fallen rock at bases of cliffs.
