These are some photos I took the last night we were in Shanghai. At night, the skyline is beautiful. You're looking at the Bund, which is the old German concession I believe. Hopefully Rick will correct me if I'm wrong.

The boats you see are excursion ships. We were supposed to take one but we missed our appointed departure time and wound up at the wrong slip so we never got to take the river ride. A real shame!:(

It's red in name only. But for the fact that people are Asian, you could be in any bwestern city. It seems like everyone has a cell phone and a blackberry type device. I didn't see that many bicycles (unlile when we were there in 1996) but tons of cars and many expensive ones also. There are skyscrapers as far as the eye can see. Shanghai is huge, bigger than NY I think. Construction goes on around the clock, it's amazing.
