As of 12 April fourteen Sharpe episodes have been released in North
America on the high definition blu-ray format. Previously released in
the UK without the wooden crate and much less expensive, but the UK
released was Region B locked. Now I can get rid of my old DVD set.
Big improvement.

Yes these offer a great upgrade over the prior DVD release and it is about time they were offered for Region A. Since I am such a Sharpe book and movie fan, I got the UK release and an all region player when they were offered on special at Amazon UK. The good news is that the pricing differential between the UK special and the current Region A price was enough to pay for the additional player, which now gives me the flexibility to pick up other non Region A releases, as well as all DVD regions.

Yeah, I thought of that a long time ago, but I would have had to add five
players in two different houses. Besides I pretty much stick with high-end
electronics, and Denon doesn't make anything near the $100 difference.

I'm sure a cheaper set will be released similiar to the UK disc only package
will be released near Christmas.
