I have a Britain's 18 inch howitzer -first version with flumed finish (that I have been told, but am not sure of what it means) which gives it a patina similar to a real gun of the era. What I need is a spring loaded shell casing and shell. This howitzer fires much like a real one (the gun is fired - the barrel returned to the horizontal, the breech is "unlocked" then opened - the casing is ejected - a new casing and shell is loaded into the breech - the breech block is closed and "locked" (what is the artillery term here - I was infantry, I don't know of the phraseology for this procedure) - the barrel is elevated, the range fine tuned by means of the adjusting thread (again I need correct terminology), the firing mechanism lever is pulled over - the firing pin or in the case of this model, the spring is released somehow and the shell is fired up and out of the barrel - the whole barrel then swung down again to the horizontal and so on it goes.

I need shell casings and shell so if any one can help it would really be appreciated. If they are prepared to lend me one to get copies made I can provide enough guarantees etc to reassure the lender that they will get it back.

To take this a step further apparently there were 3 strengths of springs and range tables were issued related to the spring used. I just cannot imagine any of this in toy or model form so if anyone knows what this is all about I would be most grateful. I have a CD showing German Trophy guns brought back from WW1 and there must be over 50 guns and minenwerfers photos on this and am I happy to send copies to anyone who can assist. And to anyone else who may be interested in WW1 guns - at post cost, which is minimal.
