Sorry Brad :redface2:, I forgot about the MFCA. That and Hackensack are the best ones we have around here.
As far as shows, the three best I've attended in the 25 years since I reentered the hobby are;
OTSN/The Chicago Show
Hackensack
MFCA
IMO, those are the top three, I can't speak to the West Coaster or San Antonio as I've never attended. The San Antonio show to me looks like one that is growing in popularity and as much as I'd love to attend as I know Andy does a superb job of promoting it, I can't wrap my head around a three day/20 plus hour drive one way. I could ship goods out and fly, but that does not work for me; I either go in guns blazing with a full boat of merchandise/8 to 10 tables or nothing.
What do San Antonio and the big three all have in common; the promoters spend money on advertising the show, they promote the show as a fun event, they have Facebook pages and spread the word through social media, not by throwing fliers on a table another show announcing their show. If you want people to come, you need to spend money to get the word out, Roger and his family work their ***** off to promote Chicago and it paid off in spades this past year, that show rocked for me. Same with Bill Lango and the Hackensack show, he spends money on ads, Facebook page and ads, etc, etc, and it pays off, despite the monsoon we got the day of the show, that show also rocked.
Brad, Dennis and his fellow MFCA members go above and beyond to ensure people show up to their show, not to mention it has the added feature of the exhibit area, which if you've never been to a show that has one, you are totally missing the boat, some of the figures, vehicles and dioramas are off the charts outstanding and many of them are up for sale.
If you think First Legion figures are expensive (and for the record; for what you get, they are not expensive, they are a bargain all things considered), check out what some of those painted figures sell for.
So there you go.
