Some simple conversion work here just moved some heads around and arms just to creat some new figures.
I have converted quite a few of these now and they seem to have endless conversion possibilitys.
I have done this with Conte plastics. You do need to do the hot water method on the Contes to straighten them out. The many variation of heads give you the chance to create a unit, all firing for example but with individual faces. I have taken all the backpack wearing Rebs and made them into one well equipped unit wearing kepis.
I put boiling hot water into a bowl...then hold the figure by the its base dip him head first into the water!
X-acto knife cuts thru the plastic like warm butter {sm4}....I have done the same thing and cut of back packs from Union to Confederate.
Really old pix. Conte conversions mixed with Conte and Britain's metals.
I did about 100 assorted from simple head swaps to a fair amount of carving.I did sacrifice A box of AIP rebs, just for their heads.

Some nice images there..You got lots of good conversions there and a few tricky ones!^&confuse
Reb poses that were cast with arm pressed againt the body for example...I can remove the arms but still want to use the same body and add other arms.
Trial and error i suppose....thanks for sharing Fub,
It's always a pleasure seeing a response from you Fub featuring your photos and as always thanks for featuring them..............Joe{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}
Nice job! Beware - figure converting can get addictive It's fun to see how a few variants in the figures can add a LOT to scenes like ACW battles where there are a mass of guys doing a similar action, but not everyone needs to be identical.
There is enough documented variation in Union issue plus Northern state issue clothing to make most of the Conte figures into Federal figures. I would convert any figures with drum style canteens. The short Confederate jackets can serve as New York State issue jackets.
Very nice painting Rob. I thank you for the Conte flag bearers you sent me. I'll send you something in return.
I have a couple dozen Conte troops I have done some conversions too. WIP. I'll post some pix , and more later when I actually paint them.
Converting is addictive.
I wonder where FISH is? He's a Napoleonic converting wizard!
Cheers Harold, Glad the package made it to Oregon.
Converting these Conte ACW figs are addictive I do a few..run out of ideas, Take a few months off come back and some how come up with some new ones.
Did wonder about Fish myself..Im sure he'll be back with those Nap creations!
