Hi,

Why does K&C sell Napoleonic/AWI/Roman singularly and WWII figures in boxes generally of four? Granted I can generally buy 3 or 4 (4-packs or tanks) sets a month, but it would give me more options on individual figures and also people who cannot afford the £74/$84 a set will be able to buy the more popular WWII figures.

I know a number of collectors buy these figures for investment (see e-bay prices), and so this may dilute their collections value. But the more people on both sides of the pond we can get into collecting, the more vibrant the hobby.

I look forward to your replies.

Dear UK Bod,

If you look at what K&C sells individually (Napoleonic, Roman) you will notice that to make a diorama with these you need massed forces and that the idea at the time was that all your troops looked the same so a single pose is often all that is necessary to get the look you are trying for. King & Country sells these individually so the collector can control how large or small he or she wants to make their display.
With WWII sets K&C likes to have each set tell its own story so even if you only have one set of four, it can stand on its own as a nice display. If you will notice the figures are always interrelated. WWII is less about rank and file and more about vehicles, weapons etc. so it seems to make sense to have several figures come with a vehicle all in a group.
You might try the new Fields of Battle line of King & Country figures (ours will be in Monday morning) as each figure is sold singly. You can also purchase single figures from sets on ebay.
Good luck!

Not necessarily sure if this is the best place to insert this since this is really more of a 'wish-list' (to seed in Andy's mind) than a reply to the original post but I bring it up because its based upon concepts noted by Shannon.
I collect the LAH series and have purchase multiples of the same figure to create diorama of marching men. I was really hoping to add to this collection a marching calvary unit. The new LAH63 piece is great but its an officer with the horse in a rather unique position. Not generic enough for multiple purchase. Wish-list: A wehrmacht soldier ( or black ss uniform) on horse with a generic stance.
Additionally, it would be nice to see marching allied troops. Wish-list: An allied figure which lends itself to multiple purchase for mass forces display.

Sorry Andy, I know you get enough wish-lists but these are old wish items of mine I've been looking for a chance to express - second to the winter tiger. :D

I'm not trying to drum up business for her but she has been incredibly helpful when I had to replace figures that I'd damaged but Marjorie who sells on ebay breaks up sets to sell as single figures so on the WW II material she can help you out there.
