Wow, well, the man lived a full and great life, couldn't ask for a better obit.

Here is a particular snippet I was taken by:

The New Zealand government gave no cause of Hillary's death on January 10, although it had been reported that he was ill, apparently suffering from pneumonia. It is understood he had not been well since last April after he suffered a fall while on a climb in Nepal.

So, the guy passes when he is 88- and he was obviously still doing what he loved up till his final hour!!! This should serve as an inspiration for all people who are spending perhaps a little too much time on the forum and not enough time doing something physical. An 88 year old man can get out and go for a climb in Nepal, I think we can all do somethings better for ourselves.

This might be the quote of the year:

In an interview with the Guardian in 2003, he said his charity work and not the Everest ascent gave him the most pride. "I find it all rather sad," Hillary said. "I like to think of Everest as a great mountaineering challenge, and when you've got people just streaming up the mountain -- well, many of them are just climbing it to get their name in the paper really ... It's all bulls**t on Everest these days."
