I recently got one their newer sets for the ACW, confederate firing line - I have noticed their stature and size seem smaller than the older lines, for example, Lone Star, or Conte Co's ACW range.

They seem a bit smaller. Have they changed their sizing for this line?

Hi there! I am the sculptor for the new 1st Gear/W. Britains ACW line. I justed pulled Confederate firing set #17744 out to compare with the Old Ertle/W.Britain 'Lone Star' set and the Conte 'At the Fence' (2002) figures. The stature, and more importantly the arms and equipment are consistant. I will say that the paint and body proportions on the newer figures seems better. The 'Lone Star' set was sculpted in 1998 When I worked with Richard Walker at Ertle/W. Britain and to my eye the heads are a bit larger than they could have been. Perhaps 9 years and a few more sculpts under my belt have fine tuned things a bit.
With that said, I have all of these various sets displayed together, along with a few conversions swapping parts between figures made at different times and in different factories and they work very well together. A couple different threads on this site have rather large displays that include figures I have sculpted for Britains, ONWTC and Conte, along with FRONTLINE and in some cases even the painted plastic figures from Conte and they look pretty good.
There will be some great additions to the 1st Gear/W. Britains ACW series in the first half 2008 catalog that might be useful with your existing collection.
Hope this helps some, Ken Osen

Thanks for the quick response Ken! I do love your older work a lot!

They do seem compatible just a wee-bit smaller in stature than the older works and that may be due to the head size, I will look at them more closely.

O.C. Here...With very few exceptions I have almost all the Britains ACW sets produced in hte matte format. They are all mixed together in one large diorama display with Conte and Old Northwest Trading CO. There are even some early K$C TEDTOY and Trophy in the mix. They all work together very well.
I keep the glossey figures to the back where the can pick up the low lights and are less obvious.
As my good friend Yellow Pages says " Mo'e Dang Fun!!"

I love the new Britains civil war sets! I think your greatest job ever is the ONTC Grim Harvest set. It has a place of honor in my room:)
