I have recently started painting again ( a WB ACW conversion to start). My eyesight isn't what it used to be so I started taking pictures of the figure with my smart phone to see areas I may have missed or where I have overpainted . It works extremely well ( maybe too well as it really shows defects )
Anyone else use this quality control technique ?

Thanks
Kirk

Hi Kirk,

I use a large illuminated magnifying glass to do my painting, that way I can see the eyeballs and buttons clearly :)

But I do photograph all the figures I paint, (they go on my website http://members.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/ ) and sometimes that way I see something I might have missed.

So I can then fix it, so a similar method to you, but I use a hi-res camera.

The other way to fix the figure, is Photoshop :) :)

Like Obee, I also use either a large illuminating magnifier - or an Optivisor with a good lamp - as aids for painting. I do also use a digital camera sometimes, to take pics - which can then be uploaded - and displayed on screen. These images are then much larger - and can show up defects.

I sometimes miss them though - so that when I show them (say) here - everyone else can spot the bits missed too!:D Ooops! jb{sm4}

Yep, I do the same. Optivisor to paint, and a digital camera for photography, and the digital images serve as a quality check, because they'll show things that I didn't see, even with magnification.

Prost!
