Well, not 100% sure if he was in 5th grade but he was younger than me. Two families we know lost their teenage children on june 6th to a car wreck. They held a charity 5k on Nov 28th in their honor. I placed 4th in the mens 30-39- the other three dudes were younger than me- 10 years is quite a gap. Anyway- in the first pic, we turned the corner and this young kid just blew by me- I heard my eldest son at the top of the hill just bust out laughing. All I saw were blonde locks and the backs of his feet. It brought a tear to my eye- as you can see me wiping it away in the pic. :D

Here I am crossing the finish line a few moments later.

The kid who took first did it in the low 15's- I was somewhere well after that. :D That was a rough charity run- the back mile was all up a winding hill and there was a strong headwind coming as well. One of my army buddies saw me and said I should go do the Army 10 miler with him this fall- I'm thinking not.

Endurance, stamina and a naive sense about the amount of abuse your body will let you get away with, are the virtues of youth.

For those of a more senior vintage, we have wisdom, a more enlightened view about relevance, and lastly, but by no means, leastly, we have dirty tactics. :)

Yeah but Chris, in the frame prior to the one where he blew by you, I clearly can see him jumping out of the car parked next to the fence, so that explains how you got smoked by the kid from the "Home Alone" movies..........:D

Great stuff Chris, and a worthy cause. And don't worry about the kid in front,he's probably running from the law!;)

If the kid is running from the law i just hope Cris is not the law:D:D

:D:D LMAO

Well, to be fair, I can't imagine a police chase going 5k on foot- I am pretty quick off the blocks in a 50-100 meter sprint too- I heard or read somewhere that is about the average length of a police footchase.

Thanks for all the kind words fellas- I have been laid up for the last few days. I have 2 disks in my lower back that are herniated and they flared up again last Thursday- it's been about 10 years since I have been in this much pain. Just doesn't stop, it's there night and day 24/7. Anyway, my doctor has me on some really good pain meds so I am doing much better. :D

Yeah Rob- it was quite a tragedy- knew both the kids- not real close but close enough. The son was an eagle scout in out troop and did some remodeling work at a local women's domestic abuse shelter for his eagle scout project. The girl, from what I am hearing, her parents had to make the decision to take her off life support. Terribly gut wrenching- the world will be a much lesser place without those two.
