That is both surprising and interesting,,,BUT,,,,,you would not need to get your boots on in a hurry.....TomB

I'm guessing that it would take less time than putting on socks, lacing up boots - and then putting on gaiters - or putees Tom. On active service - boots were often kept on for days at a time anyway, often sleeping in them, wherever you could!{eek3}Yuk!
